Leonie’s father was in the RAF Regiment for 23 years and knows the feeling of being worried for a loved one when they are at war.
“Our poppy was a Christmas present and I was very happy to be given such an important piece of the installation and I’m very proud to display it in my living room.
My father was in the RAF Regiment for 23 years. I know the feeling of being worried for a loved one when they are at war. I know the strains and stresses that a military career can put on a family. For this reason, remembering those that have fallen is very important to me.
I cannot imagine living through a conflict as terrible as either World War. To have everyone be affected by it and to have so many lives lost seems an alien concept now. It’s important to remember those that fell and the scale of the conflict. Hopefully doing this will prevent the same tragedy happening again. And then they will not have died for nothing.”
