I bought my poppy. I was moved by the thought of such a magnificent art installation and feel it is important not only to remember those that have gone before us, but also those who continue to serve in the armed forces to protect us.
I visited the Tower twice; once when the poppies were being planted and again when all was completed. I don’t think anything seen before or since has given me a better understanding of the scale of sacrifice and loss of life.
My son, Joshua, was one of the many volunteers to help pick the poppies and get them ready for dispatch all over the world.
My poppy now sits in the living room where I can see it every day. I just wish that seeing it also meant seeing an end to conflict.
