I was the Designer of the original installation and so planted many poppies in the Tower moat, especially working on the sculptural installations that are now the touring Wave and Weeping Window. I bought poppies for all my daughters, but this one is in memory of my great Uncle Arthur Griffiths of the Royal Welsh Fusiliers who died in November 1918. I was especially moved when we installed Weeping Window in Caernarfon, to see his name in the Welsh book of Remembrance.I also went back to my old school (MCS Oxford) to create an installation of the 50 poppies they had bought to commemorate all who lost their lives , including VC Noel Chavasse. It has been amazing to meet so many people up and down the country who have bought a poppy and for whom they hold such a powerful meaning. I am really looking forward to a new phase of the Installation in which we see how the fragmented original installation has spread throughout the world and how the poppies are brought back together digitally.
