I bought the poppy in remembrance of a man called George Dollar, who joined the army when war broke out and was immediately sent to the front after training. I found out through looking at records that he was killed in the first few days of the war on the Ypres Salient and his name is engraved on the Menin Gate Memorial.

If he had survived the war and came home he might of been my Grandad because he was my Nan’s (on my Mothers side) first husband.
