My grandmother, Elizabeth Crowley Perry came to Canada in March 1900-Band 56 per S.S. Parisian, from The Liverpool Shelter in London. She was 13, and placed in the home after the death of her parents. Her siblings could not look after her. She never saw them again, although there were letters from her sister. She had 3 sisters , and one brother. They weren’t aware of her departure till quite awhile after, when they went to visit her. My grandmother, “Lizzy” was farmed out to work from The Knowlton House in , Knowlton, Quebec.
I purchased my poppy from London, England, in memory of my grandmother,
