I bought a poppy to remember both my grandfathers, who came home and my Gt Uncle Will, who did not. He was killed 6/6/16 at the Battle of Mount Sorrel, somewhere near Hill 62. His name is on the Menin Gate and I finally was able to visit there on 24th July and laid a wreath in his memory. The day I did this was the 90th Anniversary of the opening of the Menin Gate and I was at the beautiful service that was given to mark this occasion.

I was honoured to have been one of the people who volunteered to plant poppies at The Tower of London. A day I will never forget. I remember that day and Pte William Mew every time I look at my poppy.
