I bought the poppy for my Nanna Muriel Slater (93 years young) to commemorate her father William Barton, who was shot down in a plane over Italy in WW2.
She was very emotional when she opened it. She would have loved to see the poppies at the Tower so a poppy in her own home meant the world to her. It takes pride of place on her fireplace, still in the box, with a photo of her father in uniform and some red, white and green tissue paper for Italy where he is buried.
