My wife and I were amazed by the Tower of London poppy installation and wanted to be part the 14-18 Now centennial events in some small way. So I bought poppy. I have a long held interest in the First World War and this, for me, was a perfect way to mentally connect with that, honour those who experienced so much atrocity and carnage – and keep their memory alive. Each man or woman taking part was a real person with family, hopes and dreams. How catastrophically for so many these were shattered.

I am honoured, proud, thrilled and also mournful to own a poppy. It is a poignant and emotive reminder of what happened 100 years ago.
