I bought a poppy in memory of my Great Uncle, Cpl. James Parkinson of The King’s Liverpool Regiment who was killed on 5th May 1918 in France, aged 21, and is commemorated at the Loos Memorial, Pas de Calais, France. I brought the poppy back with me to The Bahamas where it has pride of place next to his photograph and medals and a book of all the letters he wrote home to his parents, the originals of which were donated to the Liverpool Museum.
