We purchased two poppies so that when our girls are older (currently 8 and 10) they would each have a link back to not only the installation that we visited at the Tower in 2014 but also a link back to family history. I served for 24 years in the RAF, the majority of it overseas and in multiple war zones and my father served 12 years in the RAF, his Father, my Grandfather also fought at the Battle of Monte Cassino so it is a very emotional and close family experience.

The rationale is clear to see and whilst I still work in the same sphere but as a consultant now our girls are very clear of the importance of recognising the sacrifice and heritage.

This is Eleanor’s Poppy.
