I bought my poppy to remember all those who have fallen in conflicts. As a member of the Royal British Legion I have visited war graves from both World Wars in Belgium and France. Two of my grandfather’s brothers died fighting in WW1. I keep my poppy outside in the summer – planted in with living plants by my back door. In the colder months it lives in my kitchen. When I visited the poppies at the Tower of London (Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red) it was very early on the day before Armistice Day and the installation was almost completed. It was an overwhelming experience. Everyone there was silent. I cried. I feel lucky to have my poppy. Lest we forget.
