I bought my poppy to remember my great uncle, Private Leonard StanleyTabb. He served in the 2ndBn, Royal Berkshire Regiment. He was shot on Thursday 21st March 1918. He was 19 years old.

I visited his memorial, which was located in Albert Northern France 2004. In this year I lost my Father who unfortunately never got to the war graves, so it felt the right thing to do. It was an a very emotional visit and will stay with me for ever.

My great uncle was born and raised in St. Columb Major, Cornwall. The town has its own memorial and his name appears on it. The Tabb family name is no longer present in the town, however at the local primary school the 6th generation of his descendants attend this school;.
The poppy lives in our main family living area and is part of our daily lives. The decision was made not to put it in a case but to leave it free to be touched and loved. Its a talking point that I am very proud to participate in.
