I bought a poppy in memory of my maternal grandmother’s first husband William Redman, who died at the battle of the Somme. Leaving behind my grandmother Mary Ann Redmond and their 3 young sons. Bill, Joe and Harry, who lived in Westminster, London.
I also bought a poppy in memory of my maternal Grandfather Ernest Stevenson, who was injured in the same battle and later returned to England and resided at King Georges Hostel in Old Pye Street, Westminster, London. He met my grandmother and she became Mary Ann Stevenson. They had another 6 children.
