We were privileged to be accepted and took 7 boxes out between us. We were right under the Wave in bright sunshine. We found it more poignant because my Father’s brother Henry Shaltz died at sea torpedoed by a U boat n the Second World War. His name is on the plaque in Trinity Gardens opposite the Tower, his boat was The Nottingham. We tried hard not to break any and the one we ordered is pride of place next to my Dad’s photo, sadly now passed. He served in the Merchant Navy too. It was a very rewarding day, emotional remembering all who lost their lives. A great concept and to actually be amongst all the beautiful poppies in the Tower grounds was magical right next to Tower Bridge and being a Londoner felt very proud to be part of it.
