We bought two poppies, Fiona bought hers to remember her mum and dad, I bought mine to remember my Grandad who fought on the Western Front. That time never left him and we used to talk about it. It made me realise what the war had really been about. Fiona and I have both served in the Army, we were impressed with the installation at the Tower and followed its progress visiting regularly to see what was going on. I was moved by it remembering the conversations I had with my Grandad.
I’ll leave mine to my niece with some recording I made of the conversations with my Grandad, just so she can pass it on to her children and know what we went through and why we did it.
