I bought my poppy in remembrance of my Great Uncle Private Robert Gallagher, 10th Battalion Royal Inniskillin Fusiliers, who died from his wounds on the 3rd June 1918 and is buried in Ypres, Belgium. We have his details, photograph of his grave, one of his medals and cap badge framed and above the poppy. He was one of three brothers who all fought together, along with both my Grandfathers, who survived. The family will be gathering next June in Ypres for the centenary of his death. This poppy means so much to me as I was named after him and I’ve replicated this with my son. I had the privilege to attend the Tower of London and see the poppies when on display … a totally wonderful and magnificent tribute to our fallen .
