I bought my poppy in memory of my great great grandad John James McCreedy Petty Officer 1st Class who perished when HMS Louvain was torpedoed and sunk on January 20th 1918. The poppy sits in a vase with a dandelion on it, the symbol of the pad brat which I once was. It usually sits on my lounge windowsill bathed in light and the closest place in my house to the sea. I saw the poppies in London, again at Caernarfon castle and most recently at the Plymouth memorial which was very special for me as John James is remembered on panel 26 of the memorial. Lest we forget.
