As soon as I saw the advance information about the Poppy project, on a Facebook page for potters, I knew I wanted to be part of it. It seemed a perfect way to honour the dead of World War One. I didn’t make it to the display at the Tower of London, but I saw the Weeping Window later on when it came to Liverpool. My poppy, in a vase weighted with sand and stones, is in the hearth of my sitting room, where I can look at it every day.
